Running 13, 13.1's in 2013 and the thoughts along the way!

Thinkin’ on Thursdays

Another week of neglecting my blog, I will get back to it soon, I am making that promise to myself. While I am transitioning jobs, its been tough to get to a computer on a regular basis, but I will, I promise! Here is what I am thinking…

I had some good workouts this week, but still feeling out of the workout groove. I think I am having too much fun with the last few weeks of summer. A little more alcohol than usual and eating out really takes a toll on my body.

Not pleased with the BAA for opening the field to 36,000 for Boston in 2014. I really hope they are selective and keep the prestige that the race holds. If I hear one more person that has never run a road race tell me they are running Boston in 2014, I might lose it.

With just a few days of summer left, I am very sad to see it go, but looking forward to things settling down and laying low for a while.

I am starting to feel the fall chill on the early morning runs, it feels like so long ago I was bundling up for my races.

Going to get a 10 miler in tomorrow morning, hoping the double digit run will check me back into race mode with race #12 a week a way!

Excited to get a Red Sox game in this weekend as well as a cookout with the family, hoping for some summer weather.

Thinkin’ on Thursdays

Wow things have been HECTIC in my life and unfortunately my blog had to take a back seat. But just like falling out of a fitness routine, there is always the option to regroup and get back into it. So here I am with with Thinkin’ on Thursdays missed, back on track! I must say what I have been thinking about wouldn’t have been that exciting with lots of stressful things to deal with, but here is what I am thinking this week…

I had a great week of workouts, my work life has changed a bit so the routine piece is off, but still have been uping the intensity and I think I have worked out the vacation out of my system

So I have been 30 for a week, and while I still cringe when I tell people how old I am, its not that bad…just a number!

Starting to feel the summer blues creeping in, but still have lots of fun stuff to pack in. This weekend celebrating a friends bachelorette party down the Cape. Maybe some beach time to extend my Key West tan??

Looking forward to getting my 7 miler done tomorrow, this will be my first “long” run since my trip.

Races 12 and 13 are coming up fast and to be honest with the busyness of August, I have not thought about my challenge in awhile and can’t wait to get my focus back on the final 2!

Thinkin’ on Thursdays

What am I thinking this Thursday? I am thinking that its time for 10 days of VACATION. Not a whole lot else I am thinking this week…

So I actually wrote out my thoughts on Wednesday…shhh its close enough, because by the time I post this I will be in Key West!!

I am going to be computer free as much as possible on vacation, so don’t be alarmed by the lack of posts, even a blog needs a vacation.

I have alot to post about when I get back, lots of changes including turning 30…ugh

Have a great weekend!

Thinkin’ on Thursdays

With getting work done on my house, lots of stuff going on with work, and teaching extra spin classes, I almost forgot that its Thursday! Here is what I am thinking…

It just been one of those weeks, where it feels like there have been alot of challenges thrown at me and I am doing everything to keep sane as we muddle through them all. Which we always do!

One week alert! While there is alot of things going on, just 7 short days until I am in my most favorite place in the world: Key West! As promised, next week I will be sure to share my thoughts on what I like to call my severe case of the “Keys Disease”

Was asked to join a friend at a “Hot” yoga class. While I couldn’t make it this week, I have added it to my Try It list and hope to check it out soon.

Looking forward to sharing my next post tomorrow with the other bloggers over at Run With an Idea. This week we are talking race entry fees and are they really worth it for some races…as someone who has had to pay for 13 half marathons, I can’t WAIT to share my thoughts on this one.

I have an 8 miler planned for Saturday morning, and then its close to 2 weeks of little to no running. Don’t get me wrong, I love to run and some vacations running can be built in, but in Key West its all about total relaxation and recharging and that goes for running too!

I plan to lay low on the drinks this weekend, but look forward to attending the Country 102.5 Street Party outside Fenway Park on Sunday. Should be alot of good music and fun!

Thinkin’ on Thursdays

A slow week for posts, I think with the way too hot weather my brain is turning to mush. None the less here is what I am thinking…

Looking forward to a quick getaway this weekend, a little beach, a little music, and a whole lot of drinks!

After “cleansing” my liver with a 48 hour detox this week, I am finally feeling back to normal. Can’t wait to share my experience with cleansing.

Even though it is hot, I got to relax at a friends  hot tub last night, boy did my muscles love it, felt so great!

I am loving the discussion going on at Run With an Idea. Its been so fun to hear others perspectives especially outside the good ol’ US of A.

I am going with Margaritas as the drink of choice this weekend, just refreshing and easy to make when its this hot!

Sent these little sneakers off to a friend who just had a baby, my favorite gift to give, their first running shoes!!

Thinkin’ on Thursdays

Happy Thursday! Almost time for my 11th half marathon and really my only “true” summer half. Where does the time go?? Here is what I am thinking…

Getting excited for the Jamestown Half Marathon this Saturday. Finally a race on a Saturday! I can’t wait to enjoy the rest of my weekend and allow my body to recover. Not so excited about getting up at 4:15am to be at the race for the 6:30a start time. Once I am there it will be great, done with a race by 8:30 on a Saturday morning? Woo hoo!

Looking forward to the Jason Aldean show tomorrow night at Fenway Park, hoping for good weather! Not looking forward to the little amount of sleep I am going to get before my race and the lack of beers I will be passing up at Fenway. Oh well, its worth it!

Speaking of Fenway…I am officially signed up for the Spartan Race at Fenway in November. I was starting to get nervous as to what I would be training for after number 13 in September. Crisis averted!!

I can’t wait to share my first post tomorrow as part of the Run With an Idea blogging discussion group (http://runwithanideadebates.blogspot.com/). I was asked to join a group of other fitness bloggers to share my opinion on various topics every other Friday. This group of bloggers is made up of all different people from all over the world, it has been great to get to know them and can’t wait to hear what they think!  Be sure to check back tomorrow and also stop by our site to see what others think.

Thinkin’ on Thursdays

usa

What could be more Patriotic than Red White and Blue Jello shots?!?

Thinkin on Thursday ON the 4th of July? Bonus! Its been a hot week and even on my light workouts I sweat like I am in the middle of the Sahara. Oh how I love the summer…

Its the 4th of July and I LOVE fireworks! While my husband is not around today he is very thankful that my parents invited me over to watch their towns fireworks tonight. One year, early on in our relationship we were unable to watch fireworks due to the town canceling them, I was miserable which in turn made his life miserable. He swore never again!

Enjoying an extra long weekend by heading to down to New Jersey tomorrow to visit family, looking forward to a laid back weekend!

Before heading to Jersey, getting in a 10 mile run tomorrow morning. I am thinking I will need to be out the door early with the temperatures we have been having. Hello hydration belt!

We have officially hit the one month mark (actually less than that) until vacation! 10 lazy days in Key West is just a few short weeks away. I can’t wait to share more on Key West. This is a special place to me and I try to visit often.

One week until my 11th half marathon. I will be heading to Jamestown, RI. I am loving the 6:30am start time, so smart! With the busyness of summer I feel like my 13, 13.1’s has taken a back seat, but so thankful for the schedule I planned out and letting me have a bit of a “break” in August

As always take a minute to thank the brave Service People that give so much to this country!

Happy 4th of July!

Thinkin’ on Thursdays

A week of recovering and returning to a “normal” routine has been going well. With having Monday off this week flew by! Here is what I am thinking…

Could it be true a WHOLE weekend with NOTHING planned? Well I guess its not completely true, I do plan on running the final stage of  the One Run For Boston Sunday night. Its about 8 miles and I think it is going to be a pretty special run. Check it out: http://onerunforboston.org/

After all my build up to Buffett last weekend, I think I need to do a photo recap. More to come later today!

Hoping to do some catching up this weekend around the house and with family and friends. Drinks with recent Mass Maritime Grad brother on Friday and hopefully dinner on Saturday night with friends. Where to go??

I never got to share my anniversary dinner last week, but a quick shout out to Craige on Main in Cambridge for an amazing dinner. The food was definitely unique and pushed my “comfort” zone of trying new things, which I think is a good thing every now and then!

I can’t believe the 4th of July is next week which also means another short week! Woo hoo! And by the way I LOVE fireworks, so I can’t wait to celebrate.

Thinkin’ on Thursdays

A busy week of planning and celebrating and it is already Thursday with still so much to do! Here is what I am thinking…

This week was a great week, celebrated my anniversary, prepared for “Christmas” all while not having a race to worry about for a few weeks. While I love my races, it has been nice to have a break this week and do whatever type of workout I am feeling like.

Tonight will begin the making of snacks, drinks, and collecting of gear. Drinks that are on the menu: Woo Woo shots, Mind Erasers, and Pirate Punch

Not only will this be big weekend with the concert, my brother will be graduating from college followed by a graduation bash on Sunday. My drinking shoes are on and my liver is at the ready!

Looks like we have a nice stretch of weather ahead of us, making for very comfortable workouts in the morning. Can’t wait to get out and enjoy.

With this busy weekend, I am so thankful I took Monday off to catch up and shift back into the real world : )

Thinkin’ on Thursdays

My week of getting excited for summer was a fail…we are getting a June Nor’Easter! I didn’t even know that was possible, but the weekend is looking up! Here is what I am thinking…

Half Marathon #10 this week, double digits?!? Can’t believe it and I am excited to get back out for a race. This race takes me to Seekonk, MA for the Castle Awards Half.

Next week is a big week leading up to my favorite day of the year…BUFFETT concert. I hope to share some of the preparations that go into the week leading up to this event.

Looking forward to celebrating my 2nd Wedding Anniversary this coming week, has it really been 2 years??

Yes, I did just say my favorite day of the year and share my excitement about Buffett, before mentioning my anniversary. Don’t judge…my husband has accepted this a long time ago AND we were married at a Buffett concert (more to come on this), so technically they are the same : )

Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads out there! I look forward to spending the afternoon with my Family celebrating with some Mint Juleps (mint from my garden!) and some other grilled goods.
